Spanish auteur Pedro Almodovar (The Skin I Live In) has found a star for his next project Standby Lovers (Amantes Pasajeros) in fellow countrywoman Paz Vega (Madagascar 3). The two are no strangers to working each with other, having collaborated once before on Talk to Her. Vega’s co-star is also familiar to her, having shared the lead roles with Javier Camara in Talk to Her. The rest of the cast includes Lola Dueñas (Volver), Cecilia Roth (All About My Mother), Raúl Arévalo, Carlos Areces and Jose Maria Yazpik. The film deals with the reflections and admissions of airline passengers facing a grave situation mid-flight. Production on Standby Lovers is set to begin sometime this summer, with a theatrical release scheduled for 2013.
