Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, the quasi-prequel to his sci-fi masterpiece Alien, may not have been the film most fans expected or even wanted. However, whether you liked it or not, it all left us talking about it. There is no denying the film is quite the open-ended story and is ripe for a sequel. Rumors began circulating of another film as soon as it arrived in theaters. 20th Century Fox is looking to answer some of the questions left in the film in the form of a sequel we all were hoping for. The studio has confirmed that stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are already signed up to reprise their characters, as is Ridely Scott to direct. Fox President of Production Emma Watts is quoted as saying she is “incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can’t rush it.” She has been instrumental in bringing back this franchise along with several others including the X-Men and Planet of the Apes franchises. With Prometheus having earned $303 million worldwide, it is safe to say this should move rather quickly. Fox is looking to release the sequel sometime in 2014 or 2015. I, for one, certainly cannot wait.
