J.J. Abrams set to direct “Star Wars: Episode VII”

After months of speculation, it appears that Lucasfilm and Disney have decided on a director for the next entry into the blockbuster Star Wars franchise. The Wrap is reporting exclusively that J.J. Abrams (Star Trek Into Darkness) has been chosen to direct Star Wars: Episode VII.  This is welcomed news as Abrams has certainly shown that he understands genre filmmaking and particularly science fiction. Star Wars: Episode VII, which is slated for release in 2015, will be penned by Academy Award winner Michael Ardnt (Little Miss Sunshine). Although no further details were revealed, we expect that more information will come out once an official announcement is made.
